The Pomarancheva variety is a perennial woody vine belonging to the species Actinidia polygama. The plant is cultivated as a berry crop. The variety was bred by breeders at the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden in Ukraine.

Data regarding the variety's classification as a hybrid of Actinidia purpurea and Actinidia arguta are erroneous. The variety is officially entered into the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine as a representative of the Actinidia polygama species.
