The plant is used as medicinal raw material rich in tannins, triterpenes, silicic acid, and flavonoids. In terms of morphological characteristics, the variety differs from common burdock by more vigorous growth and a preference for moist or shady sites.
For industrial cultivation, nutrient-rich loamy or loess-loamy soils are recommended. Sowing is carried out in autumn; seedlings emerge in the spring of the following year. The optimal planting density is 12–16 plants per m², and crop maintenance is primarily mechanical.
