Alocasia infernalis is a perennial tropical plant reaching a height of 55–60 cm. Mature leaves have a deep purple-black shade, while those of young specimens are colored in a metallic purple hue.
The plant is endemic to Borneo and requires high humidity conditions, a stable temperature regime in the range of 20–30°C, and protection from direct sunlight for cultivation.
