The Althaea officinalis L. var. Robusta variety is used exclusively in scientific and medical research. It is used as an object for studying biochemical composition, including the analysis of the content of mucilaginous substances and uronic acids, as well as for evaluating the expectorant and antitussive effects of polysaccharides extracted from the plant roots.

In the available scientific literature, there are no morphological descriptions of this form or recommendations for its agrotechnology. This designation does not refer to commercial cultivars for mass agricultural cultivation, but represents a research specimen for the standardization of medicinal raw materials.
