The variety belongs to the cushion aster group, which in modern classification is often treated as hybrids close to Aster novi-belgii. In official registers, the variety is recorded under the code Kiestrbl, although in specialized catalogs it appears under the name Gensinger Blau or Gensingen Blue.

The plant is characterized by a compact, densely branched bush form and abundant flowering in late summer and autumn. The variety is used as an ornamental perennial for landscaping the foreground of flower beds, creating borders, or for container gardening.
