The Dukat variety differs from many other Polish varieties of that period in that its pedigree is not linked to breeding based on the Ligowo variety. The plant was widely used in various comparative studies, including in mountain conditions.
Scientific work using this variety covered the study of the structure of the endosperm and aleurone layer, as well as the content of β-glucans. In the field of physiology, the reaction of Dukat plants to ultraviolet radiation was studied, in particular the activity of peroxidase and catalase enzymes in the leaves.
