The Gideon Lemon variety belongs to the Begonia × hiemalis hybrid begonia group, known as 'Rieger begonias'. The plant forms double flowers of a light yellow shade with a greenish center.

Plants of this group are ornamental-flowering and typically reach a height of 20 to 50 cm. The variety is intended for cultivation indoors as a pot culture.

Begonias of this group are artificial hybrids of Begonia socotrana and Begonia × tuberhybrida. The plants require a bright location without direct sunlight exposure and a maintenance temperature of no less than 15 °C.
