The variety belongs to the Dragon Wing type of cane-type begonias. Its main distinguishing feature is the golden foliage, which may acquire a chartreuse shade during growth, while in the shade, older leaves show more green color.

The plant forms an upright or slightly spreading bush 30–46 cm tall and 38–46 cm in diameter. The flowers are small, bell-shaped, red or scarlet, collected in pendulous inflorescences; flowering continues throughout the season.

The variety is cultivated as an annual or perennial in USDA hardiness zones 10–11. The plant has strong stems, which provides resistance to lodging. Propagation occurs exclusively by vegetative means, as the seed method does not retain varietal traits.
