The Heidi variety belongs to the group of flowering Begonia × elatior. The plant is characterized by red flower coloration.

During field trials in the early 2000s, moderate flowering intensity and a tendency of hybrid forms to lodging due to wind were noted. Breeding work was carried out to improve the plant habit and the brightness of the inflorescences.

The variety was included in official registration lists in 1985. Currently, it is considered a historic variety, having been displaced from widespread commercial circulation by more modern hybrids.
