The variety is actively used in laboratory and field biological tests as a control object for studying rhizomania caused by Beet necrotic yellow vein virus, as well as soil-borne viruses and systemic plant resistance.

In scientific literature, Cadyx is characterized as a variety susceptible to a number of infections transmitted by the soil-borne organism Polymyxa betae. This characteristic makes it a convenient indicator plant when conducting breeding trials and phytosanitary studies.
