The line was developed within the Hilleshog company breeding program. The main purpose of this material was its use as a genetic source of resistance to beet cyst nematode (Heterodera schachtii) for the creation of commercial varieties suitable for cultivation on infested soils.
During trials, it was recorded that significantly fewer nematode cysts developed on the roots of the HM 1091 line compared to control varieties, which contributed to a reduction in the pest population in the soil by up to 75%. This line was intended exclusively for research purposes; therefore, information on yield or product quality indicators for use as an independent commercial variety is absent.
