The plant has a pronounced cascading form. Depending on the training method, it can take the shape of a shrubby mound 1.8–2.5 meters tall or a small tree. The bark of young shoots has a pink or orange-brown hue; with age, it becomes red-gray-brown, exfoliating to reveal cream-white layers. Leaves are dark green, turning yellow in autumn.
The variety is resistant to the bronze birch borer and the birch leafminer. It is adapted to heat and moist soils, while possessing acceptable drought tolerance after establishment. It may show signs of chlorosis on alkaline soils. Pruning should be carried out in summer after full leaf development to avoid spring sap flow.
