Boronia anemonifolia under this name is a shrub 30–40 cm in height with pink-white star-shaped flowers. The leaves emit a citrus aroma when crushed. The plant is suitable for container cultivation, is resistant to slugs, and prefers a sunny location.
Boronia lanuginosa is described as a larger shrub, reaching 1.5–3 meters in nature. The plant possesses needle-like green leaves and pink star-shaped flowers. Cultivation requires well-drained soils, moderate watering, and conditions of USDA zones 9–10.
The name is not a unique breeding achievement and is often used as a commercial marker for plants with pink star-shaped flowers, which leads to confusion with other Boronia species and other plant genera.
