Variety description

10 August 2026

The Quantum variety was developed using the doubled haploid method. It belongs to the Argentine type of rapeseed (Brassica napus) and was intended for the production of high-quality oil.

The variety gained fame as the first line in Western Canada to possess resistance to blackleg (pathogen Leptosphaeria maculans) due to the presence of the Rlm3 gene. This characteristic played an important role in protecting the rapeseed industry in the 1990s. During the period of its introduction, the variety demonstrated high yield and occupied a significant share of the region's sown area.
