The variety is an oilseed and forage crop, and is also used as green manure to increase soil fertility. The plant is characterized as undemanding and resistant to diseases.
The variety belongs to "double-low" quality, in which the erucic acid content does not exceed 1%, and the glucosinolate content is 15–20 µmol/g. Plant height varies from 60 to 150 cm.
The name Zenith is also found in a number of patent documents as a designation for genetic material or a pollinator line used in breeding programs to create hybrids, rather than as an independent commercial variety.
