Cortes is a line-type winter rapeseed variety with a very early maturity group. The plant reaches a height of approximately 138 cm and is distinguished by wide branching and a compact shape, which facilitates the harvesting process. The flowering period is prolonged, which contributes to effective pollination under various weather conditions.
The variety possesses excellent winter hardiness and high resistance to lodging, as well as resistance to fungal diseases. The seeds contain an average oil percentage and are suitable for use in the food industry. Cortes is also used in breeding as genetic material for increasing resistance to Turnip yellows virus.
In scientific literature and breeding research, the Cortes variety is mentioned as initial genetic material for the creation of new lines, including for increasing resistance to Turnip yellows virus.
