The plant possesses resistance to blackleg disease caused by the fungus Leptosphaeria maculans and contains the specific resistance gene Rlm4. In scientific research of the 1980s, the variety was used as a reference sample when studying seed quality indicators depending on moisture conditions.
Over the course of long-term cultivation, the field resistance of Maluka to blackleg pathogens underwent erosion. This variety is a historical breeding line that contributed to the development of interest in rapeseed cultivation in the Australian region.
