The variety Maplus belongs to the HEAR (High Erucic Acid Rapeseed) category. It is a line-type population variety intended exclusively for the production of industrial oil used in the manufacture of lubricants, plastics, surfactants, and biofuels.

In agronomic research, this variety often serves as a control sample when studying plant resistance to pathogens, in particular Verticillium longisporum. It is also used as initial breeding material for developing new lines with a high erucic acid content.
