The variety possesses resistance to clubroot (Plasmodiophora brassicae) based on a monogenic type of inheritance with the presence of one dominant gene. In the professional community, Mendel is considered primarily as a source of genetic resistance, rather than as a variety with detailed agronomic characteristics.

Due to pathogen adaptation, the effectiveness of the protection provided by this variety may decrease over time. The variety is mentioned more often in the context of genetic research than in current seed catalogs for general agricultural use.
