The Roland variety, also known as Roland 21, is an obsolete winter rapeseed variety. It does not belong to modern hybrids and was used in the past in variety trials as a standard for evaluating new breeding achievements.
In modern agricultural practice, the variety is not used for commercial planting, as it is inferior to current hybrids in terms of yield, resistance to diseases, in particular phoma stem canker, and other technological characteristics.
