The winter rapeseed variety Skye is a conventional variety of British breeding by Elsom Seeds. In scientific publications, it is mentioned exclusively as an object of comparison with hybrids from other companies, and Syngenta is not its originator.
In Canadian registries, an oat variety bred by the Crop Development Centre is registered under the name CDC Skye. Confusion in catalogs may be caused by mentions of the variety in works dedicated to comparing different crops, or by mixing it up with measurement equipment under the Skye brand.
