SY Merlot is a winter rapeseed hybrid. During field trials in Germany in 2010–2012, it demonstrated growth and resistance to Phoma stem canker metrics comparable to the hybrid SY Vesuvio, which subsequently replaced it in a number of studies.
In Russian breeding, there is a separate winter rapeseed hybrid named «Мерло», created by the FSBSI Federal Research Center VNIIMK. This variety belongs to the medium-early maturity group, reaches a height of 176 cm, and possesses high resistance to diseases.
