Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to the 0+ type and is characterized by low erucic acid content with a high glucosinolate content. Unlike modern hybrids, Zeruca is a line-bred variety.

The plant has been used in physiological and biochemical experiments, in particular for studying protein composition, as well as the volume and composition of floral nectar. The variety has also been used in testing protocols for studying the variability of cotyledon and leaf traits.

Currently, the variety is practically not used in mass commercial production, having given way to more modern and productive hybrid varieties, however, it continues to be mentioned in scientific literature as material for comparison and genetic research.
