Boulen is a winter cauliflower variety. During agronomic trials in Great Britain, the curd formation period occurred in February.

The variety is characterized by the formation of bright white curds. Within comparative trials conducted between 2007 and 2009, the yield of Grade 1 produce was recorded at 75%.
