The plant is vigorous, with broad grey-green leaves. The vegetation period varies from 70–90 to 110–150 days depending on growing conditions. The heads are round-flat or round in shape and reach a mass of 1–1.5 kg.
The purple color is due to a high content of anthocyanins; during heat treatment, the color may change to green if steaming is not used. The taste is mild and delicate, with a possible slight pungency.
