The Ims variety (sometimes referred to as Ims/Orco) is used in breeding work as a specimen for the standardization of evaluating the crop's morphological characteristics, rather than as a commercial variety for mass commodity cultivation.

According to protocols for testing distinctness, uniformity, and stability, the morphological characteristics of this specimen are defined by a short curd height and a small curd diameter.
