Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety was obtained as a result of controlled pollination of the maternal form Marathon with the variety De Cicco OP. The primary purpose of the crop is the production of seeds for sprouting, as the plant is characterized by consistently high levels of glucoraphanin, which is a precursor to the antioxidant sulforaphane.

Morphologically, the variety is a plant with loose heads and multiple side shoots. When used as microgreens, it exhibits vigorous growth, uniformity, and the presence of a succulent blanched stem. The variety possesses self-compatibility and is tolerant to downy mildew.

The glucoraphanin content in this variety is 3–4 times higher than that of standard broccoli varieties used for sprouting. Maturity and height characteristics are not determining factors, as the variety is not grown to obtain a full vegetable crop.
