The USCALI17 variety (commercial name Superbells Cherry Red) has a semi-upright habit and is characterized by free, vigorous branching of the bush. The plant's flowers are large and red-purple in color with weakly lobed corollas.

The plant possesses increased resistance to fungal diseases, including Thielaviopsis, Pythium and Phytophthora, and also demonstrates good tolerance to adverse weather conditions. The variety is often used as a reference sample for breeding trials.
