Variety description

10 August 2026

Plants have a compact, upright, and bushy form. Bush height varies from 15 cm in low-growing forms to 40–100 cm in Purple type varieties. The foliage of the Acapulco Purple variety is distinguished by the intense dark purple, almost black color of the stems and leaves.

Fruits are small, cone-shaped, and directed upwards. During the ripening process, they change color sequentially, passing through stages from green or purple to yellow, orange, and bright red. The fruiting period of the crop usually falls within the interval from August to October.

The fruits are edible and have a medium degree of pungency, reaching 30 000–50 000 units on the Scoville scale. The primary purpose of the variety is decorative patio arrangement and container cultivation as a houseplant; the fruits can also be used in cooking for preparing sauces and marinades.
