Variety description

Jeannette (selection number CA 888) is an interspecific hybrid obtained from crossing the varieties Bouche de Bétizac and Jian Ding You Li. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth, an upright spreading crown, and early onset of bearing.
The nuts are large or very large, elliptical in shape, and have a rich mahogany-colored skin. They belong to the "marron" category, are easily peeled, and have a sweet taste, making them suitable for the fresh produce market.
The variety shows high natural tolerance to chestnut blight, ink disease, chestnut gall wasp, and nut rot, and is also resistant to spring frosts. For effective fruit set, cross-pollination using pollinator varieties, such as Pollifer, is recommended.
