The Refla variety was obtained using the mutagenesis method, in particular using gamma radiation. The plant is characterized by high sensitivity to leaf chlorosis, due to which it is often used in agronomic experiments on studying the effectiveness of chelated fertilizers, such as Fe-EDDHA.

In scientific publications, Refla is distinguished as a separate breeding variety, unlike the commercial group of chrysanthemums with reflexed petals, which are sold under the trade name «Reflex». Detailed morphological characteristics of the bush for the Refla variety are absent in available materials.
