The Relance variety is used in research work in the fields of genetics and the biochemistry of chrysanthemum metabolism. It serves as a reference specimen with a high level of anthocyanin accumulation in tissues, which determines the saturated purple-red color of the inflorescences. In breeding practice, the variety has been used as a parent form for obtaining new hybrids.

Morphological data are limited to information on coloration and the ability for high shoot regeneration during in vitro cultivation. Within the scope of pathogen studies, the variety was considered as an object for evaluating resistance to a fungal disease — chrysanthemum white rust (Puccinia horiana).
