The Town Talk variety exhibits susceptibility to chrysanthemum white rust, which makes it a subject for comparative studies on resistance to this disease. In breeding work, the variety is often used as a maternal plant for obtaining new hybrid forms.

Under laboratory conditions, the variety is used for refining micropropagation technologies and evaluating explant viability under various storage regimes for genetic resources. In commercial floriculture, the variety is used for producing cuttings under protected and open field conditions.
