The plant is a compact perennial shrub intended for ornamental gardening in open fields or containers. The bush has a mound-like shape and is characterized by medium-sized dimensions.

The basic version of the variety has purple ray florets, however, there are derivative variants with yellow and red coloration. The flowering period occurs in autumn and lasts for about five weeks.

The Avalon series varieties are distinguished by their low maintenance and resistance to temperature fluctuations, corresponding to USDA hardiness zones 6a–11.
