In agronomic practice, the variety is often used in experiments involving grafting onto rootstocks such as Cucurbita maxima × Cucurbita moschata hybrids. Grafting contributes to increased yield, improves drought tolerance and resistance to soil pathogens, including nematodes. Non-grafted plants may exhibit sensitivity to high soil pH levels, which leads to chlorosis.
