This variety belongs to the citron melon group and is not intended for fruit production. Its primary agronomic function is to provide protection for the grafted plant against root-knot nematodes of the species Meloidogyne incognita.

Biological features of the rootstock include high susceptibility to Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum), which limits its use in soils infested with this pathogen. The yield of grafted commercial watermelon varieties using this rootstock may be comparable to that of commercial counterparts depending on external conditions.
