The Robusta rootstock is used for grafting cultivated watermelon varieties. Its powerful root system helps improve plant nutrition and helps them overcome environmental stresses, and it also exhibits resistance to nematodes in highly infested soil conditions.

In the nursery, the rootstock grafts well with less vigorous plants. Its use allows for the production of fruits with a higher sugar content on the Brix scale, reduced rind thickness, and the stems of grafted plants do not have voids.
