The tree reaches a height of 4–6 meters and has a compact or dense crown with sparse thorns on the branches. The leaves are light green, oval-elliptic in shape, with narrow or absent wings on the petioles.
The fruits are medium-sized, round or oblong in shape, often with a characteristic "nipple" at the apex. The thin, smooth rind changes color from greenish-yellow to yellow-orange upon ripening. The pale yellow flesh is very juicy, with a bland-sweet taste due to low acid content.
The plant possesses increased cold hardiness compared to common limes and resistance of certain clones to Phytophthora parasitica. In India, fruiting occurs during the rainy season.
