The Ionio variety is a hybrid obtained as a result of crossing Citrus clementina hort. ex Tanaka and Citrus reticulata Blanco. The plant is included in research programs for studying citrus and evaluating compatibility with various rootstocks, in particular with the F6P12 rootstock.
