Variety description
10 August 2026
The Dancy variety is a large tree with dense foliage, almost spineless. The fruits are of medium size, often flattened, with a thin, easily separable skin of red-orange color. The flesh is a rich orange color, juicy, with a rich flavor, and contains seeds. The tree is characterized by alternate bearing, with fruit ripening occurring in December–January.
The PARSON'S SPECIAL variety is not a commercial table variety. Its primary role in citrus cultivation is its use as a biological indicator for the detection of the cachexia viral disease. The presence of the pathogen in grafted material is diagnosed by specific symptoms of damage to the plant's wood.
