The variety Rutstar (Stellar Nova™) is the result of hybridization of Cornus kousa and Cornus nuttallii. This tree is intended exclusively for decorative purposes and does not belong to the dogwood fruit species grown for an edible harvest.
The plant is distinguished by an upright growth habit and higher development vigor compared to the parent forms. Flowering is accompanied by the appearance of large white bracts, and the foliage possesses high resistance to powdery mildew.
