The variety «Belka» (trade name Saphyr Green) is a low-growing creeping shrub up to 50 cm in height. The plant has a dense structure and leathery, shiny dark green leaves, which may acquire a bronze tint in the autumn period.
Flowering occurs in spring or early summer with small white flowers. After flowering ends, shiny red fruits are formed, remaining on the bush until winter. The variety is capable of rooting via shoots, which allows it to be used for creating dense carpet coverings and for rock garden landscaping.
The plant is undemanding, drought-tolerant, and resistant to urban conditions. Like other members of the species, the variety is susceptible to aphid infestation and may be sensitive to fire blight, characteristic of Rosaceae.
