The variety is the result of crossing Palmetto and Marketer varieties. Fruit ripening period is about 60 days. The plant forms a compact vine.
Fruits are distinguished by dark green color, cylindrical shape, and crisp flesh. The variety possesses resistance to downy mildew and tolerance to a number of other foliar diseases, however, it shows susceptibility to powdery mildew.
There is a modern hybrid called V Palomar, which is gynoecious and intended for salad use.
