Znaimer Gurke is not an individual breeding variety, but represents a collection of regional forms that historically developed in the Znojmo area. In the mid-19th century, these cucumbers became widely distributed as an important export commodity.

This variety is traditionally used for processing. A characteristic morphological feature is the pronounced tubercles on the surface of young fruits, which is considered a quality criterion for pickled products. Small fruits are used for canning, while overgrown ones are used for preparing mustard cucumbers.

Due to the fact that Znaimer Gurke is a group of local forms rather than a unified hybrid, data on maturity group, plant height, and disease resistance vary and are not defined as a single standard. Currently, the variety is preserved as cultural heritage to maintain genetic diversity.
