The variety is a traditional one, developed in the Veneto region. The plant is characterized by a vigorous growth habit and requires a significant feeding area. The vegetation period from emergence to harvest is about 130 days.
Fruits are round, flat, sometimes turban-shaped, with a strongly ribbed, wrinkled surface with pronounced excrescences. Fruit weight is usually 4–12 kg, sometimes up to 15 kg. The rind color varies from grey to dark green.
The flesh is thick, tender, yellow-orange in color, has a firm consistency and a rich sweet taste. The variety is distinguished by good keeping quality; fruits are capable of being stored until spring. It is used in cooking for the preparation of soups, purees, risottos, and desserts.
