The variety is late-ripening; the maturation period is 100–120 days. The plant is vigorous and strong-growing, forming vines 3 to 4.5 meters long. The variety is distinguished by high keeping quality, which allows the fruits to be stored in cool, dry conditions for many months.
The fruits have a teardrop-shaped, often bumpy appearance and a gray-blue rind color. Fruit weight is typically 4.5 to 9 kg, but can reach 13–20 kg. The flesh is golden-yellow or orange, dense, dry, and fine-grained, with a sweet, nutty flavor.
Due to the very hard rind, processing the fruits requires the use of special tools. The plant is susceptible to fungal diseases in high humidity and may attract pests, in particular the striped cucumber beetle.
