The cultivar type consists of a group of plants with an open habit and a compact bush growth type, which facilitates harvesting. Technical maturity of the fruits occurs 40–50 days after sowing. The fruits are characterized by a cylindrical shape, often tapering towards the peduncle, and typical mottled coloration.

The fruit flesh has a buttery texture and retains firmness even when overgrown. Modern hybrids of this type are bred for resistance to Zucchini yellow mosaic virus, Watermelon mosaic virus, powdery mildew, and low temperatures.

Eskenderany type produce is versatile in culinary applications and is widely used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine for frying, baking, grilling, and stuffing.
