The variety is derived from the traditional Styrian oil pumpkin and is adapted for organic farming in arid climate conditions. The plant is long-vined and vigorous, with a growing season ranging from 90 to 110 days.
The fruits reach a weight of about 5 kg and have soft rinds. The main value lies in the large, dark olive-colored seeds without a hard shell, which are easily extracted. The fruit flesh has poor flavor qualities and is used primarily for animal feed.
The crop is demanding of heat and sensitive to cold and excessive soil moisture. Planting in open field is carried out when the soil warms to 10 °C. The variety can be susceptible to powdery mildew, viruses, and pest damage.
