The shrub has a dense rounded form, reaching 60–90 cm in height and width. Foliage is dark green, fine-textured, pinnately compound. Flower color may lighten during extreme heat.
The plant is undemanding, resistant to most diseases and pests, as well as to deer browsing. The variety was bred for USDA hardiness zones 2–6, tolerates drought well after establishment, but is sensitive to soil waterlogging.
