The main characteristic of the Sytan variety is increased resistance to the carrot rust fly compared to susceptible varieties. The variety does not possess full immunity, but it is damaged by the pest larvae significantly less often.

In scientific research, the variety is mentioned in the context of the chemical composition of the root crops, in particular, the peculiarities of chlorogenic acid accumulation, which affects the development of carrot rust fly larvae. The variety is used as part of integrated pest management systems to reduce economic damage.
